Well Graeme has decided that with his feet getting sore easily, plus his desire to see lots of places near the C2C route, he won't walk with us. Instead we will rent a small car on arrival in Manchester and Graeme will travel around in it visiting places and doing some shorter walks. Sometimes he may walk our route in reverse and I can then drive and pick him up.
This has a number of advantages: we don't have to worry that Graeme will walk too slowly for us; he can move our luggage at lower rates than the Pack Horse people; if someone is sick or tired (or both!) they can take a day off and go with Graeme; he can move us on the rest days instead of taking an expensive taxi. Disadvantages: we lose the person with the best sense of direction and map-reading ability; we'll have to put up with him telling us how much more he is seeing than us, etc.

you are lucky to have such good weather. Yes, we found that track sign posts were often non-existent, but then you don't want it to be too easy - particularly in clear conditions!
